What's with all the "Looks like..." posts on IMDb-boards?

I'm quite fascinated by the fascination for lookalikes here on these boards. Almost every person listed here have some threads about it. I've never understood it. Everyone looks like someone else. There are over 7 billion people on this planet after all. More than you could count in a lifetime.

This lady had 4 out of 8 threads about it on the front page, and on this first page on her message board (I have it set to show max entries) I stopped counting at a dozen or so.

Can anyone explain why people are so fascinated with lookalikes, please?

(The reason I posted this here is because I was checking out the score and comments and stuff about the movie "The Lookalike" in which Gillian Jacobs starred, by the way)

Why did you write look's? Look is, look was, something belongs to the look? Then why didn't you also write post's?

Ah, the grammar police are here. Good. I've corrected it now, ok? :)

I'm Norwegian so sometimes I write English incorrectly.

You knew what I meant anyway. You're just being difficult.

Anyway, now that I've corrected it, do you have any useful info?

reply

I'm really happy for you. That is indeed useful.

Now if you come with me.. Yes come here... Juuust a little bit further. Gooood boy! Now just lie down here and dream sweet dreams... Yeees that's it. Close your eyes! Goooooood boy... Sweet dreams...

SURPRISE! :D

I don't understand the obsession with finding lookalikes either. It is amusing sometimes reading how odd some of the lookalike comparisons are though. By the way you write very well for somebody whose first language is not English.

Get on the scale! Get off the scale.

Its something human I guess. Lookalikes and age are the two main questions on every IMDB board.
