A bit hammy

He comes off much to hammy. The show is all over the place. It is trying too hard.

I don't think he was hammy at all. There WAS a lot going on in the pilot, though. I think it'll settle down a bit. They were just trying to fit in a lot of back-story, history, going-forward story in 42 or so minutes. I still really liked it. Was a bit afraid to blink, though. ;-)

Ohhh no! He was hammy. He and the show were hammier than a triple ham sandwich.

What does "hammy" mean? I know it's British slang but when I tried to search for a definition online, it gave me several different results. So in the OP's case, what does "hammy" mean?
