Sell out to Hollywood and alienate her "black" audience. She should do what Queen Latifah is doing. Play the Hollywood game, but still come "home" from time to time.

i believe this is why halle career is where it is. she completely abandoned her black audience. i understand wanting to have a crossover or hollwood not just black hollywood career but she took a lost. queen latifah is playing it good
shareQueen Latifah is uber talented and has learned to balance it all. Halle was so happy to finally crossover she abandoned her core audience which has always been black folks. Halle has done decent in ensemble films; but can't carry a movie to save her life it seems. It was a wrap when Frankie & Alice and Dark Tide both went straight to DVD. Queen possibly makes more money through her endorsements and producing television shows (Lets Stay Together; Single Ladies) than she does acting anymore.

But, if you read some of what I've experienced on this board, in addition to others, you'll find that despite it being 2012, some people are VERY passionate with trying to claim "she's BLACK". Usually it's the black people making this claim.
If you dare point out that a woman such as Paula is more white than black, I'll guarantee you, you'll get branded a "racist" by the resident trolls who insist she's "black" and ONLY "black".

The irony of this post is that Queen Latifah actually replace white men in many of her roles particularity movies like Taxi.
I never understood why race is so important when it comes to film roles.
Halle wasn't my first choice to portray Oruro Monroe but she did what she could and I am forever thankful that she took so many chances and became more that a pretty face.
She's an Oscar award winning action star that's a producer, and successful model at forty years old.
Her mother is white so if she picks roles that are "white"(whatever that means) then I say more power to her.
I hope Ms. Patton does more action movies and continues being more than just a stereotype.

Well I highly doubt that.Seeing as how both of Obama's presidential races brought out the bigotry of all the seemingly non-bigoted white people.
