Having sex with someone under the age of 18 is not pedophilia. The law considers having sex with someone under the age of 12 to be pedophilia. Though, this does vary according to culture. Pedophilia is the sexual attraction to small children. According to the law I live under, you can be excused from rape convictions if you had the genuine opinion that you slept with someone you thought to be at least 16 years old. But if the person is under the age of 12, you have no chance of escaping the conviction no matter what your beliefs.

There is no "standard age" other than someone has to be 18 in order to be considered an adult. A girl can be 13 or 14 and still look very much like a child. Also, there are 11 and 12 year olds that can start to develop pretty sizable boobs and hips, butts, etc. Puberty hits different people at different times. So, if someone who is attracted to someone who hasn't hit puberty, regardless of their age, then it's safe to assume they are a pedophile.

Also, the laws vary depending on what country/state you're in.
