Maybe her behavior is showing a reflection of how her parents have raised her. If my daughter would think the way Ariel dresses is "an expression of her confidence" I would slap her in the face with a cold wet fish.

The Hell...? What's wrong with being a little "crazy"? We're all human and none of us are perfect. As long as someone's not being hurtful or a dick about it (you all wouldn't understand), I say: Let your freak flag fly, girl! Maybe I don't have the right personality or temperament for message boards, but why is everyone always being so hard assed and judgmental about these young female stars that start partying? Damn, no wonder they crack. Good thing I'm not famous. So much for aspiring to be Ariel's future bf, haha.
And not everyone is good at handling pressure. Had to walk from a job for that reason - sometimes its just not worth it. Why are we always so willing to please jerks? Abusive relationship or place of business - same thing. Get out while you can and before you snap. But yeah, I swear, people have no empathy these days. Being the product of an abusive narcissistic family and not being able to fully enjoy my youth because of that (not to mention I probably have an undiagnosed developmental disorder because of that), hence my attraction to this girl, sometimes all I want to do is be a free spirit and rebel and I'm almost f'n 40 years old lol The scars run deep. So I feel Ariel's pain :-) If I can rebel, they should be able to, too. Preferably all of us together (a guy can dream) :-)
I swear, all these "normal" people ::shiver:: Yeah, I'm an older guy who finds Ariel hot, I'm sure some find that creepy, but "normal" people creep ME out (plus seem boring as hell). So I guess we're even, so ha :-P Though at least I'm not being hateful or holier than thou smug to a young lady on the internet. So...um...stay classy? And someone please tell me not everyone relates to her "brainy conservative" character on Modern Family and there actually are people on this site besides myself with ::gasp:: different personalities. Talk about a Twilight Zone/Invasion of the Body Snatchers moment. Speaking of body snatching... ;-)
And who says "crazy" people can't also be smart? Ever heard of an eccentric genius? Maybe a "nobody" named Einstein, for example? God forbid he show a bit of personalty or quirkiness. What is this, the Middle Ages? Oh, and what's up with the double standard about being harsh on how Ariel or other young women dress just because she wants to look sexy, but not hating on guy celebs who dress provocatively, too? Talk about a double standard.

Just to clarify re: guys dressing/acting provocatively and being "bad boys", its just funny to me that no one accuses them of having self esteem issues or not being empowered when they do that, but you all judge when females (and not just young ones like Ariel) do that. Seems like a double standard. You think us guys can't have self esteem issues? Or that we don't rebel against societal pressures and judgments by acting out in similar ways to females? We're all human, not so different IMO. I never really believed in gender roles anyway. Just be who you are and screw what anyone else thinks. But yeah, "Bad Boy" - empowering and something that should be praised. "Bad Girl" - not empowering and something that should be discouraged. How is that not a double standard? There definitely seems to be something wrong here.
Guess I'm just a feminist like that (who's also attracted to Ariel, so yeah, people are complex, so maybe try not to stereotype people so much, kay?) :-) Hope I made one of my points a little more clear. I'm trying to maintain my (relative) sanity on this site, so please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks that? :-)
