Absolutely, positively AWFUL on James Franco Roast

Perhaps I'm off base, or was he TRYING to be unfunny because he was an absolute trainwreck...he had time to prepare that material, and came up with THAT? Took a gigantic dump all over himself, was painful to watch, couldnt wait for him to get the hell off the stage. I'm sure he's a swell fella, but he most definitely is not funny. At all. The only person I can think of who is less humorous is Russell Brand.

It was deliberate. He did what Norm MacDonald did at the Bob Saget roast. So you obviously didn't get it. I'm not saying that getting it makes it funny, but I guess try watching it again knowing that he's trying to be unfunny.

"He did what Norm MacDonald did at the Bob Saget roast."

Exactly. I laughed the hardest at Andy's bit. "This roast just got dark!" lol.

Yes it was intentional, it's called anti-humor. It's definitely not for everyone but I thought he was hilarious.

I just figured he is SUPER sensitive. And had trouble being thick skinned, from the comments about him - even though he knows to expect it.

He mentioned having his feelings hurt, I think twice? And mentioned being terrified. He wasn't funny. But good for him being kindhearted.

I agree - he was terrible at the roast. Norm MacDonald was trying to be intentionally unfunny during the Bob Saget roast, but Norm was actually funny. Samberg's part in the Franco roast was awful and very unfunny. Part of that is due to the fact that Norm MacDonald is an experienced stand-up comedian, whereas Samberg is not. Only a rare comedian can pull off the "antihumor" approach and Samberg is not one of them.

Do you just say that out loud on a public forum?

Yes it was intentional, it's called anti-humor.
