Did Richard kill Manny....

....because he killed Jimmy's wife, thereby allowing Gillian to assume the role of "mommy"? Was he pissed especially because he thinks gillian (which, of course, she is) is a skank and she intends to wipe Angela from the child's memory?

I think he did it for revenge after he killed Angela, since to me it's apparent that he definitely had feelings for her.

He killed Manny because of Angela. He explained (at least as much as Richard Harrow ever explained anything) when Nucky thought he killed Manny because of Jimmy. He told Nucky Jimmy was a soldier; he fought and lost, and the fight was voluntary, but Angela was innocent. And she was his friend; I think she reminded him very much of his sister. He did not do any of it for Gillian. As with many people who have disfiguring wounds, Richard was often dismissed as 'slow'; that along with his quietness allowed him to blend into the background. Jimmy always knew he was there but saw it as an advantage and he trusted Richard more than anyone. I don't think anyone would dispute his observational skills and intelligence; Jimmy certainly didn't. It was never discussed, but Richard knew there was something very wrong with Jimmy and Gillian's relationship and while he did not have exact details he knew it was sexual. He did not seem to hold it against her, but knowing her background he had to know she did not have a chance of a normal relationship and she did not know any boundaries, even with her son. She wasn't a completely bad person, she was a child that stopped maturing at 13. After Jimmy died Richard's complete devotion transferred to Tommy, and he knew Jimmy would not want Tommy raised the way Jimmy was. The chances of Gillian molesting Tommy at some point were very high and Richard was determined to keep that from happening. He would have never tried to take Tommy from Angela, and Angela would have never tried to keep Richard out of Tommy's life if she had outlived Jimmy the way Gillian did. He also did not want Tommy to forget her.

Richard was a very conflicted character. He was a cold and calculating killer, but he was also fiercely protective of those he loved and always stood by his word. When Nucky asked if his own family was in danger and Richard said no, they had been good to him and had nothing to fear, Nucky knew he was telling the truth. Richard always knew Nucky was the one who killed Jimmy but did not really hold it against him because he understood the nature of the business that Jimmy was willingly involved in; it wasn't personal but had to be done. Out of all the characters that died, Richard was the one I really wanted to see survive it all. He was alone for so long and lived, but as soon as he reconnects with his sister, gets married, and has a family waiting for him he is killed.
