This isn't really a hate thread, it's more like a, am I alone? I've watched his movies and I've TRIED to like him, but something about him is so offputting. he always sounds dubbed over and emotionless. On top of that, something else feels off. I really did want to like him.

Idk. Personally, I liked I Am Number 4 but the studio feels that it's a bomb despite taking in around $150 mil at the box office.

It has a $60MM budget and grossed $150MM globally. Which if you do the math means it broke even (including marketing costs) theatrically. And probably made a decent profit with DVD. TV etc included.
But they expected more, and based on the reviews also expected the sequel to do worse. And then of course he was very difficult to work with, as has been chronicled endlessly.
So not a bomb but not a big enough hit to justify making a second one.

The only downside of not having a sequel is that we were introduced to a kick ass character Number Six and we'll never see her come into her own. Thankfully the books are around.
