I don't understand all the vitriol towards her and Harry...

I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for anyone in the position of being in the public eye. I don't understand the fascination with them or any "celebrity" for that matter. They're just people with problems like every other person.

Yeah I like to come here and talk about movies, television shows and sometimes comment on the actors, actresses', etc but why be so obsessed with their lives?

I don't get it.

reply

I think they're mad about Britney Spears.

reply

Hahaha! XD

reply

Yeah, I feel really sorry for two people who have millions of dollars, live in a mansion in Santa Barbara that has 16 bathrooms, a pool, and a tennis court, and ran away from living in castles and an equally lavish lifestyle in England, and then lied about why they did it. It must be tough!

reply

I could care less about having millions, living luxuriously and all that. All I have ever wanted was to be happy with good health, a wonderful family and a roof over our heads. We have our struggles for sure but I would never trade places with people living under a spotlight no matter what they have.

I feel sorry for you too. You obviously cannot appreciate the good things you have. How sad.

reply

No, I do appreciate the things I have. I have a nice house that isn't too expensive, I have a family who loves me, I have a good future as a Clinical Medical Assistant (possibly a nurse), I have friends both in the real world and online, my mom is recovering well from an illness she's been suffering from, I have relatives who have been very supportive, and I live in a state I like.

The last thing I'd want is a marriage based on lies, burning all my bridges with all my family, only be in love with myself, have a kid I don't want other than to use as a meal ticket, to only find comfort in buying expensive clothes and jewelry, to never be happy with my face and always getting plastic surgery, and acting like an attention whore to get sympathy and money. That's not a life I'd want to live. If I tried living the life of lies Meghan did, I'd die of a stroke or heart-attack from the mountain of guilt all that lying would do to me. She is a very sad, pitiful person who doesn't appreciate what she has, and always wants more. It's never enough for her. You know something's wrong when someone joins THE FRICKIN' BRITISH ROYAL FAMILY! and then says it's not enough and runs away, blaming it on racism when in fact, she never planned on joining the BRF as a working royal. She just wanted to use Harry as a ticket to fame and fortune. Don't kid yourself if you think she's a selfless humanitarian; she isn't.

reply

You are happy with your life and it sounds like a great one! I am truly happy to hear your mom is recovering well. I hope she continues to have a long happy and healthy life. I lost my father to his battle with cancer 5 years ago but it still feels like yesterday and I miss him terribly. At the same time I am at peace with his passing because he suffered terribly and I know now he is in a much better place.

So again, you have a good life... why waste your time caring about Megan and Harry and what their lives are like?

reply

I just don't think it's fair, what Meghan is doing to the BRF, and that Harry is so fucking stupid that he let himself get caught in this thing's web. It seems like the only thing that's gonna wake him up is when she dumps him when he's no longer useful to her, and then she starts making up accusations of him abusing her and being cruel, when we're all gonna know it's lies.

reply

Well said, Amerigirl.

reply

[deleted]

And again...how does any of this affect your life? Will you personally be affected by what happens with Harry and Megan? And if so...why?

Not being sarcastic, I am seriously curious as to why anyone would obsess over these people.

reply

I got burnt out over being angry from the political section, so I had to focus my anger elsewhere. Meghan's nothing more than a safety valve for me.

reply

Interesting. Heh, I won't go near those boards. I don't have THAT much patience.

reply

I go to "The Markles" and "Duchess Diaries" on Quora :D

reply

Lol, awesome XD

reply

Stinky, you're obviously a god-botherer, so you think it's your duty to see the best in everyone. But not good idea to ALWAYS give EVERYBODY the benefit of your naivety. That's how people get ripped off.

reply

What is a "god-botherer*?? I didn't say it's my duty to do anything. I made a statement and asked a valid question. The only naivety I see here is yours. You seriously need to go back to school and learn to type and spell. You try to come off as if you know what you are talking about and make assumptions about me but have only succeeded in making yourself look even more uneducated. Come back after you've received an education before you reply.

And I don't get ripped off. I am a repo agent. I go after people that rip others off.

reply

Ooo, touchy aren't we!

reply

It's couldn't care less.

reply

My apologies, imatosser182 you are correct! Thank you for the heads up!

And while we're at it, your reply should have been "It's "couldn't" care less". 😁

reply

You're a moron. You write a phrase that means the EXACT OPPOSITE of the sentiment that you mean to convey, and then you blithely defend that mistake as "acceptable".

Then you criticise someone for the minor omission of neglecting to add inverted commas in a quote.

So, what is your position? Could you "care less" about "having millions"? In which case you mean that you presently care a *great deal* about it.

Could you NOT care any less than you already do about "having millions"? That is, are you so wealthy now that you don't need or want any more wealth?

Now lets see what bullshit rationalisation you can come up with to excuse your ERROR.

reply

And thank you for being so nice about it 😊

reply

They're a couple of rich and insanely privileged twats, who think that the worst thing that ever happened to anyone is that the royal family expected them to follow some rules and do a bit of work, in exchange for their worldwide fame and luxurious lifestyle.

They deserve every bit of mockery they recieve.

reply

Oh, you know them personally?

reply

I know them as well as you do.

reply

^^^ :)

reply

Never said I knew them. Just that I feel bad for them and anyone living under a spotlight. BIG difference.

reply

You don't appear to understand that some people love the spotlight and seek it out like Meghan. Many actors do!
She doesn't want bad press which is different.

Harry apparently has no problem using the spotlight to insult his family and make money.

reply

Oh I understand that, trust me. I just don't understand why anyone, other than their own family, would obsess over them or care how they live their lives.

reply

3 reasons:

1. Fairy tale stories of charming princes and living happily ever after is a part of our culture.

2. Getting to glimpse the glamorous lives of royals with expensive clothes, cars, palaces & ceremony.

3. It's human nature to want entertainment: music, sports and a good story. Tabloids keep them interesting with stories of romance, villains & heroes, and scandal in an ongoing soap opera.

Meghan and Harry were boring after they left England. Firebombing the royal family during their interview renewed interest. (scandal).

reply

You made some very valid points.

"It's human nature to want entertainment: music, sports and a good story. Tabloids keep them interesting with stories of romance, villains & heroes, and scandal in an ongoing soap opera."

And they have been doing so for centuries. Pretty crazy thought really. As long as there have been people, there have been gossips, scandals and vitriol. Kinda sad that in that aspect nothing has changed.

Thank you for your reply :)

reply

You're welcome.

The book, "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" by Yuval Noah Harari, gave me a different perspective on people. He basically wrote that it's human nature to use stories not only to entertain, but motivate people to do things. For instance, creating a narrative around different religions, political and economic ideologies, war, etc. which are all made-up stories. The one with the better story gains more followers.

Meghan is trying to change the narrative from her being a villainess to a victim.

reply

Interesting. I am going to check that book out! Thank you :)

reply

You're welcome.

l hope you enjoy the book. It's among the best I've ever read.

reply

It's because they have the gall to think they are in ANY kind of position to lecture ANYONE else about equality.
FFS an actress married a prince and they getting platformed by one of the wealthiest women IN THE WORLD to cry about how oppressed they are. Gimme a fucking break.

reply

Yep. It'll be the last nail in their coffin I think.

reply

I can understand the frustration with that for sure.

reply

Agreed.

reply

They're not lecturing about equality. They're complaining about racism which there clearly was in some of the British news coverage.

You're bringing up classism which is a different issue. At least the royals still in England make raising money for charity an important part of their lives. And Charles was always in the forefront about the environment before it was a thing and has made ending racism a goal. But, Meghan and Harry are all about themselves and how rich they can become. Harry just betrayed his own family for money. He no longer has a soul.

reply

I don't necessarily pity them, but I also don't understand the vitriol. Especially because, in contrast, lots of people feel sorry for the Queen. Any reason anyone would have to hate them, they would have more reason to hate the Queen, yet they pity the latter and not the former. It makes no sense.

reply

Thank you for your intelligent and kind reply :)

reply

You're welcome.

reply

I don't see the Queen making waves in the media ...

reply

No disrespect, but what does making waves in the media even mean? And how is it a detriment to your real life?

reply

The point is: if you get under the spotlight don't be surprised that you are under the spotlight.

reply

I don't get your point. People can be under the spotlight and not be hated to the extreme.

reply

When people get under the spotlight they must be careful about their words and actions.

Who said that it's hate?

Do you really think that disagreeing with something or expressing a negative opinion counts as "extreme hate"?

Plus: i think that people have every right to actually hate entitlement, hypocrisy and other negative traits specially when they are showcased by those under the spotlight.

reply

Who said that it's hate?

She is black (even though she isn't) and any criticism will be deemed as hate or racism or both.

The new rules these days is any criticism towards someone non white will be deemed hate.

reply

I believe the OP implied that they receive a lot of hate via the use of the word "vitriol". Also, I haven't seen many people disagree with the couple in terms of their opinions. It's just that people seem to express a lot of anger over the fact that they're married, that they're in the public eye at all, and nitpick certain aspects of their existence.

And negative opinion seems like soft phrasing for hateful comments, which most of the comments I've seen are.

reply

He disgraced his family for a modern, selfish woman... And therefore has disgraced his nation. The UK is still a constitutional monarchy and he is 6th in line to the throne... (he was 3rd, but Prince William had two sons)

We know they're a puppet royal family and have been so, arguably, since the Stuarts left the throne... He couldn't even handle that low bar...

The irony is that now he'll be a public puppet to commercial media and NGO interests instead... Nevermind his dominant wife...

He's a cautionary tale for any young man... To beware of Lilith type women...

reply

Well if a lesson can be learned from this I suppose that's a good thing. Thank you for your honest reply :)

reply

They are in the public eye because they want to be there.

If they wanted privacy they would not have taken millions of dollars to be interviewed by a racist billionaire.

reply

I would love to be famous for something worthy but I would not want it to mean constantly living in the spotlight.

Out of curiosity, why do you believe Oprah is racist?

reply

Some people are upset that the so called royal family were called out on their bigotry... It's really just that simple.

reply

You're really that simple for sure. Is your name Jack?

reply

I can see why they would be. I mean there is such a thing as tradition which doesn't necessarily equal bigotry but people do have to realize that our world is changing every day and sometimes traditions need to be changed up.
