shareThanks for the info. This pretty much confirms what she said in an interview for Flaunt Magazine earlier this year.
"I'm not an actor to be a personality." - Jessica Chastain
Shoot, I was actually looking forward to seeing this movie this fall. And I feel a little bad for JC: she probably thought TZW would be her Oscar contender for the year. With a March 2017 release date, there's no way the movie will position her for an Oscar (much less a nom) in February 2018.
shareIn reply to C-Dog..don't swear off 2018 yet. It has happened for some movies released in spring ('Hotel Budapest' comes to mind, and there have been others). It's rare but not impossible. It probably depends on how well Zookeeper's does next spring-summer, how well audiences respond to JC, and if Focus has anyone else to promote end of next year (like this year, with 'Loving' and 'Nocturnal Animals'). I've noticed that they're releasing Zookeeper's nationwide, not as a small limited or art house release, so that tells you something about how they believe it will do well. And it's possible for a re-release closer to Academy season.
shareYeah, exactly. Also, while the films released early on in the year have a minute chance of being nominated in comparison to fall releases, acting nominations can be more forgiving of release dates and less than great films. I remember in the mid-2000s Diane Lane was nominated for every award under the sun for Unfaithful, which was released in May. There's hope and Chastain's name, thankfully, adds momentum; being an unknown in a spring film makes it much harder.
shareThat sucks, though I would definitely it be THIS movie than Miss Sloane!
