Saoirse Goes Broadway

Abigail Williams is an incredible role for Saoirse to cut her theatrical teeth on.
I've never really had the inclination, nor the appreciation for the theatre, to actually go and see a play, but I'd love to see The Crucible.

Great news!!! She will learn a lot, after all there would be no cinema without theater and with this great cast still. Sadly i wont be able to watch it, it would be great to see her as the villain.

What makes me happiest is she is breaking free of those ethereal waif roles - The Host, Violet & Daisy, Byzantium, Stockholm P, even Hanna to some extent.
Eilis in Brooklyn isn't one, but especially not is Nina in The Seagull or Abigail in The Crucible. Far from it.

With this and The Seagull (albeit on film) she's going the actor's actor route. I don't think she's ever done stage before. Sophie Okonedo is a stage magician and Whishaw is a massive talent as well--both of these individuals actually starred in different incarnations of Hamlet, both of which were successful. I'm very surprised and excited.

Okenedo is terrific on screen too, she just hasn't had too many opportunities to show it to the masses. "The Secret Life of Bees" and "Skin" were both extraordinary performances.
