A24 has acquired North American rights to “Good Time,” a caper film with Robert Pattinson, Variety has learned.

The film follows a bank robber’s race to evade the police dragnet that threatens to send him behind bars. Josh and Benny Safdie directed the movie from a screenplay by Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. “Good Time” also stars Jennifer Jason-Leigh and Barkhad Abdi.

The Safdie brothers are well known in the indie film community for their work on “Go Get Some Rosemary” and “Heaven Knows What.” Pattinson shot to fame as the brooding vampire in the “Twilight” films. Since accelerating the heart rates of teen girls the world over, he’s used his heartthrob status to get backing for edgier fare, working with David Cronenberg on “Map to the Stars” and “Cosmopolis,” and appearing in the upcoming James Gray drama “Lost City of Z.”

Just saw the Jennifer Jason Leigh mention. Did we know about her?

A 7 figure deal, and it's cool how Variety points out Rob's using his star power to get edgier fare made. Brady has said he couldn't get funding for TCOAL before Rob signed on, and then after, financiers lined up.

Rob hasn't just talked the talk, he's walked the walk, literally basing his career on talented filmmakers who he has faith in to do excellent work. Shows he has good judgement and isn't afraid to break new ground. He's not a follower, he's a leader, trusting his instincts.

Deadline also says Jennifer Jason Leigh is in the film. That's the first I'd heard of that.

Hopefully this time A24 does a better job with Good Time than they did with The Rover

They were just starting out then. They had no idea what they were doing, but they've improved. They did a good job with Ex Machina and Room, and this year they have Moonlight, American Honey and 20th Century Women, all of which have Oscar buzz. They've come a long way since The Rover.

ITA. They have built a resume and have a very strong slate this year.

Glad that Good Time has a distributor for the US. Heaven Knows What was released in France so I hope that Good Time will be too. Let's hope that A24 does better with Good Time than with The Rover.

Rob: 15 times on French news programmes. His face is a Greco-Roman marvel.

Very cool. A24 is legit and I am a big admirer of that studio .

Still need to see "Heaven Knows What " and get more acquainted with the Safdie bros' style . This film sounds right up my alley the more I think about it (I'm a sucker for bank robbery movies ...most recently Hell or High Water was phenomenal )

Here's hoping Good Time is a good film!
