I'm done with her
Now that the boards will be closing forever, might as well get something off my chest...
I am officially done with being a fan of AnnaSophia Robb. I have been following her for many, many years and even had contacts with people close to her. I supported her when she was doing indie movies that no one saw. I drove 60 miles to the nearest theater playing Sleepwalking and there were only four or five people in there watching. I defended her when she expressed her religious views which I agreed with, and then defended her again with her liberal social views which I did not agree with but supported her right to express them anyway.
I applauded when she tackled the challenging role in Soul Surfer and dared to be in the religiously leaning film. I applauded again when she had the courage to travel to India at age 14 and visit some of the poorest sections that tourists never see and personally witnessed some of the most awful plights of poverty on the planet. When she was mocked by classmates in High School for quoting Scripture and they called her "Bible Girl" (by far most fans never knew of this but I did) I quietly supported her once more.
I was then disappointed when she took the role of Carrie Bradshaw in the Carrie Diaries, a character whom as a sexual libertine I felt was the antithesis of Christian values. I cringed when she posed with porn star (Annie Sprinkle), and I cringed some more with her changes in attitude as the 2016 elections drew close. I always knew she was a liberal, but she always showed grace and dignity and respect toward the opposing side. I feel that she has now abandoned that respect, and shed the grace and dignity that made her stand out. She now stands with the loudest and most vulgar elements of political protest, has grown acidic with them and no longer resembles the humble Colorado girl she once was.
The last straw came as she chose to defend Lena Dunham and her soft-core pornographic (lets face the truth, that's what it really is) show, and has the audacity to say that Dunham has progressed women's issues with this mockery that degrades and sullies both genders. I do not know how any person like her who not only was raised Christian, attended a Christian private school, still claimed to be Christian as an adult and even got baptized as an adult can have this morbid fascination with the most pornographic end of human sexuality, as well as supports the most violent segments of political opposition.
In short, she went from being a cautious moderate to being a radical. And I can no longer call myself a fan.
