Ruby Sparks was brilliant.
I just watched Ruby Sparks, and I thought it was brilliant. I didn't know what to expect going in, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd heard that it was a bit wacky, different, etc, but I didn't find it jarring at all. The premise was so different. Some people said it was similar to other films, and I didn't feel that way at all. I thought it was a breath of fresh air, to be honest. It was clever, funny, sad, and at times deeply unsettling. I can't believe Kazan wrote it. Not to say I expected less of her or anything, but man. It was really great. The script was solid, the acting was great, and Kazan's performance just made me want to see her in more films. She was great as Ruby. I loved it. I almost loved it more than the recent film Her actually. Both films were original, but this was just as fascinating to me.
