And so did Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan or whoever you can name. They are called martial artists for a reason. Real fights would be very boring to watch onscreen, you know.
shareAbout Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, etc. please do not say they do not know martial arts. Bruce Lee was an outstanding martial artist, Jet Li is a wushu champion, Jackie Chan is not really a martial artist so I can see your point there, and Donnie Yen spent much of his life in intesnce martial art training and still trains today. It is true that the movies, for the majority, only contain stylized action but that is because that is what entertains. That does not mean however that the action stars themselves do not know real, brutal martial arts.
And about martial arts, it is completely false that martial arts are not for real fights. Martial arts were created and used for warfare. Just because martial arts have changed and shifted today into sports, and preformance arts does not mean that martial arts are useless in real fights. Yes many martial arts schools do not teach a practicle martial art but many schools do teach practicle martial arts. The marines train in martial arts. Do you really think the marines are interested in learning pretty arts that can only be used for showing off?
The world is my oyster but I am allergic to shellfish.
For the last freaking time, what he does isn't Muay Thai. It's Muay Boran. With a mixture of other stuff, not just acrobatics. Now do us all a favour and jump off a building. Or get some braincells off ebay to start a more intelligent thread with a discussion that's worth the time.
Nothing is more reliable than a man whose loyalties can be bought with hard cash.
I was talking about the martial arts guys like Jet Li etc. are practicing, of course. Sure, they might wipe the floor with ordinary guys like us but almost everything you saw onscreen is not really usable in real fights. It's meant to look good, you know. Real fights would involve a lot of grappling and infight on the ground. All I'm saying is that noone can really compare these guys, it's totally ridiculous to say "Tony Jaa's fighting style is superior/inferior to Jackie Chan's" because all they do is scripted fights. One might think that this is obvious but it seems like it isn't. None of them have ever been in real fights, even less in a fight against each other. And don't get me started on Jet Li being a Wushu champion - he was about 9 years old or something and tournaments still have rules and ways to determine the victor that have not much to do with real fights.
shareTHANK YOU! i thought i was hoping someone else knew what the hell Muay Boran was. and for anyone else reading this, Muay Boran would whoop your ass, Jaa only does a few of the tricks and techniques used in the old way of muay thai
shareyeah, donnie yen and jet li were both trained by the chinese national team! they're serious fighters! which is why kung fu practitioners have dominated full contact martial arts competitions around the world! oh wait.
i've got a call from the leg store, they've got nothing for you to stand on, sorry.
"They are just a flock of to fish for fame its person"
MCMAP(MARINE CORP MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM) Is not very effective
i have been in fights(full contact sparring) with marines who know MCMAP and have defeated all of them and at the time i had minimal training(only a few weeks)
bruce lee started out in martial arts before he ever made a martial arts movie
he was not just an actor like jackie chan and tony jaa
and jet li was a champion before he ever acted
