WHY all the lame comedies?

I had such hopes for Zac Efron after the "High School Musical" movies. He showed such promise with roles in "17 Again", "Charlie St. Cloud", "Me & Orson Welles" and even "The Lucky One." He was really developing into a very good actor with some meatier roles...and then he sidetracked into becoming another Ryan Reynolds with the silly, no substance comedies. I hate that he may have ruined his chances of becoming a real actor by taking some of the most recent roles, where he doesn't have to act...only take his shirt off and look buff. He's gone to nothing but eye candy. Such a shame, because he really does have acting talent but may now never be taken seriously.

I couldn't agree more.

Any person who says he doesn't have at least potential or promise hasn't given him a fair chance. I think it's been a bad move to be typecast as the sexy, hunky guy in all these mediocre comedies, but that doesn't erase anything that he's done that's been of quality.

He is capable of working with the big dogs, and is known to be something of a workaholic, but these projects he chooses don't reflect that at all. He has worked with so many successful, well respected actors over the years who have spoken so highly of him, but the actual movies he does are just without real substance.

I'm really really crossing my fingers for The Greatest Showman because Zac was so good in Hairspray and obviously, HSM. He comes across as a natural with his charisma and presence. I enjoy the shxt out of him and I hate to see his talent go to waste.

He's always presented himself as such a class act. Regardless of what anyone says or thinks, he continues to be well spoken, polite, smart, funny, kind etc. I have spent countless hours since he came onto the scene watching interviews of his or reading them, and I've always really liked how he seems to be.

TLDR; Zac is more than a buff body and he needs to act like it. I'd be damned if the only offers he gets are for these types of films considering he has been in an array of genres his whole acting career (i.e. Miracle Run, The Paperboy, Charlie St. Cloud, 17 Again etc.)

He's always been an idol to me because he always seemed like such a good person with a level head and a true gift so my greatest hope is for him to get the big break he deserves.
