Google Trends: Jennifer Lawrence going down, Emma Stone going up

Popularity is a thing that goes up and down, and in these days of super-hype and social media, both can happen very rapidly. There will always be a flavor-of-the-month (or year) - last year it was Alicia Vilkander. What I'm impressed with is a body of work that has lasting value - that's the most challenging thing - an actor who has range and has created a number of memorable characters in a series of memorable films. Emma is talented, I hope she challenges herself and not just allow her talent to be co-opted by Hollywood - to be turned into a cash cow. She seems intelligent, so I think she's probably already aware of this.

ummm... Jennifer Lawrence was in the hunger games. That blew up her popularity. Hunger games is done so shes going back to her regular indie movie star popularity. And while shes still in X-men. Shes not the lead of X-men which is an ensemble cast.

Also, La La land is massive right now.

uhh, Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in winter's bone, the hunger games, silver linings, passengers.....the best actress living today.

which movies were emma great in ? easy a, zombieland, la la land, were not exactly amazing performances.
and those characters did not need to be amazing either. very regular roles, and she did a good job.
But Lawrence is a much better actress, no matter what google trends says.

Jennifer Lawrence is no where near the best actress living today. She wasnt amazing in any of those movies either. She was good in all of them and id say shes a pretty good actress, maybe even in the top half of big actresses alive today, but she is no where near as talented and nuanced as emma stone is.

Lawrence is good, but she's been in a lot of flops lately. She became an A-lister overnight, and it's starting to lose the hype. Emma has been solidly building her career for years now, and she's finally at her peak.

It has always been a competition with those two. Not a real one of course. But they have been compared so many times. I was always team Emma as she is the OG. And I really hope she will get her shine back now that Hunger Games is over. Apart from being a part of well know francises, Lawrence has some crappy films. It's not her who carries the film, it's usually the established fan base of the film and/or her costars.
