Her "American" Accent
To put it nicely, she's not the best actress. I actually feel bad for all the talented Indian American actresses who could have been more convincing in playing a great Alex Parrish.

shareI thought her acting was fine, but yes, she clearly can't pull of an American accent and keeps slipping into a South Asian one. That's why they had to write the line about her character moving to Mumbai for 10 years to accommodate her.
As for casting, an Indian-American actress, how would that happen? Alex Parrish was supposed to be a black or white American and they only changed the role around because Priyanka had a talent deal with ABC and the creator of the show liked her.
My point was that it's great they gave an Indian actress an opportunity. But I wish it would have been an Indian American one. She would have been able to play the role more convincingly.
shareThe problem with 'indian-americans' playing indian roles on American tv is that they "embarrass" indians world over when the try to speak in Hindi..Poor accent, poor spelling of certain words and worst of all, poor dialogues...one thing is for sure, if Priyanka is asked to say a few lines in hindi on the show, she will nail it..
🇫🇯Most people call me a pessimist, I prefer to be called a realist.🇫🇯
Personally I believed that's it's entirely down to economics, and the fact that India have a population of well over a billion people many of who will be tuning in, never mind the millions around the world, so good luck to her.
shareI highly doubt that's the reason. ABC obviously does make money off selling the show to air in other countries, but it's not going to be that much. They definitely made a good decision. Everyone expected ratings to be low, especially considering it's time slot, but it's doing well.
shareI bet some people will frown upon her sex scenes in the western us show too. it's more raw than the bollywood scenes.
sharePeople frown upon the fact that she is on a show with a diverse group of women and a bunch of white men (no minority men anywhere to be found).
shareLOL the point wasn't about diversity, gender, or anything like that. She's just not the best actress. And her attempt at an American accent is not good. Period. Any other interpretation of that by you is a stretch.
