From BBC Three: The Internet Reacts to Sherlock

A very light-hearted look at the reactions to Sherlock. Understandably, they avoided all the hatred!

For what it's worth, I was blown away by this season. Only writers who love these characters and understand them could have written this season. They had fun, got outrageously creative, all the while never losing sight of their special relationship. I hope this isn't the end of Sherlock, but I rather think it is. Sherlock finally becomes the good man Lestrade thought was possible. Mary's video at the end had me in tears. Emmys and Baftas all around!

Finally! A thread that feels good to spend a few moments.

This series has been completely brilliant. The first episode was very dark and difficult to watch, but a great foundation for the nest two. The Lying Detective was fascinating for story (!!) and for Ben's amazing performance. Martin was excellent, yet to watch BC be so convincing as though the danger was completely real was outstanding. Was practically biting my nails in anxiety for John to arrive.

I loved, loved, loved the "Miss Me" DVD. So clever and such a love letter to the also very stubborn John Watson. Even though he might seem cuddlier than Sherlock because he's always warm with the ladies, he still has that starchiness of the Fusiliers going on. I loved how Mary was incorporated throughout each episode to provide gravitas to her place as John's wife and Sherlock's friend.

But, last night, The final Problem was so brilliant that I watched the clock as the show progressed - and as dense as it was written - I kept hoping that it would not end at ninety minutes. It was excellent, brilliant, and totally engrossing. Being the end and also a new beginning is exactly right. Everything was delightful. All the callbacks to past episodes, especially the flashbacks with Jim and his posturing after stepping down from the helicopter with the classic Queen's song. Wonderful touches all the way through.

Something that I so love is that Steven and Mark no only provided a bang-up, totally entertaining third Holmes offspring, but they made that mysterious person a sister. I could hear Vader's voice saying, "Sister?" and knowing that the Force was out there in a sister it was an unknown quantity. Yet, the layers and complexity in the creation of Eurus was so amazingly circuitous, exactly as we were shown step by step. It was if the reptile in the Garden of Eden was a female, there to seduce (several) Adams and they were failing faster than we could count.

The number of ACD's stories touch upon with starts and stops definitely built the tension for me during the drama. There were heart-wrenching moments that were cringe worthy and others that brought tears. It was emotionally exhausting, which is my highest compliment for being 100% engaged.

I so admire what a superb gem of entertainment that Steven, Mark, and Sue, along with Ben, Martin, Una, Amanda, Rupert, and Lou have provided for the past two seasons. This was a great wrap-up for Mary's story, broadened and deepened Sherlock and John's relationship, leaves us with the humane, kind Consulting Detective of ACD's creation and paves the way for more when there is time and space for all involved.

The following comments are my thoughts on Steven's comments about this season being the end of The First Chapter and perhaps, just The End . . . or not.

I believe that all parties would be back for another season for this passion project when schedules could be managed. These are people who understand the legacy this creation provide and all principals have said many times how they would love to do it into their old age. When the creators, producers, actors and crew - dear hearts and kind souls - have put up with it for three seasons, it is long enough. They must all be so relieved that their passion project has fulfilled a long held dream that is now complete, closed, and that they are now free to breathe again without the pressure of a future schedule.

Their lives and mental health are extremely valuable. None of them have to do Sherlock for a living. I salute them for this wisdom and will hope and pray that with Kind, respectful words of appreciation from many in their audience, they might want to return within the next five years. I believe that three of the strongest words are love, respect, and justice and the people involved with Sherlock have given their best.

Why would any thinking, rational, intelligent people want to reward such negative behavior as has occurred in so many ways on the web, in print, and in person? I do not believe in art for art's sake if the artist must be injured and accept such treatment. And never have believed that the customer is always right. In this world,

Thanks, y'all for the positive assessment of this series! When the DVD comes out, I envision many pleasant hours spent with Holmes and Watson from their beginning through the early years as they solve crimes.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! for saying all of this Checkered.

I wish I could frame this post and look at it whenever I come across some of the rude, horrible things I have seen on the internet since the airing of the finale.

A big "thumbs up" and "Bravo"!
