Series 4 Episode 3 The Final Problem Possible Spoilers Reactions

From cumberbatchweb:

Just out of seeing #Sherlock The Final Problem. What an episode. Best episode of series 4 by far.

It is 90 min long as usual There is a fan theory that it is really 94 min long and they didn't showed them because johnlock.

It is a satisfying ending.

It seems very final so it could be the end of the serie or a new start.

It moves like lightening & is full of character beats you will all adore. Up there with The Great Game for me #Sherlock

Emotionally it is a rough ride but satisfying.

Molly is going to have more time.

Feels both very final & equally like a new beginning. Marvellous stuff #Sherlock

Apparently no Johnlock.

I went to the Final Problem screening today.

Sherlock fans please stop and listen.

Listen carefully and listen with your mind and heart open.

It was a beautiful episode. There were intervals in it when I had to remind myself to breathe in and breathe out because it was such a magnificent story. When we first met Sherlock and John we saw them as two halves a whole. The final episode of Season 4 by the end had me smiling. And that is all you need.

I now speak directly to Johnlock shippers. PLEASE AND I BEG YOU PLEASE DO NOT be disappointed. What Sherlock and John go through transcends the boundaries of friendship and family and it is implied throughout the episode. The final minute and a half made my heart swell up with pure joy.

So please don’t be disappointed in the writers because what you want hasn’t happened. The story of John Watson and Sherlock Holmes is the greatest love story whether you think of it as friendship love or romantic love. They have done true justice to the story. And as actors- I can truly say Benedict and Martin will forever be my Holmes and Watson.

It may not be what you expected it or want it. But it is as what two men we so closely hold to our heart said in the last episode :

“It is what it is”

Anyone knows what VT means?

Okay since I’m getting so many messages I’ll post a few non-spoilery hints here. Obviously don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled for episode 3!

- Sherlock is the world’s biggest drama queen

- And so is John

- Mycroft has a huge part in this episode

- Seriously it’s the most we’ve ever seen of him

- Molly has a huge scene

- ‘I love you’ is not what you think it will be

- “This is a family matter.” “That’s why he stays!”

- Disguises

- VT

- Some people are going to be very VERY happy and some people will not

- Sherrinford

- “Baker Street boys”

Where did they get the idea that it was supposed to be 94 minutes? Just curious. I'd love it if they were lying to us and saving a secret ending as a surprise!

I just checked my local PBS station, and they've now moved Sherlock from 7:30 to 7:00 on Sunday. That has to be proof that they've added a big happy ending to it! Ha!

I almost make fun of that "theory" but I worried for my safety! 😉 Seriously Tumblr is *beep* crazy!

The drama is terrible.

They were convinced Sh and J were going to kiss and Johnlock was going to be canon.

They are like a cult. They even have a name for those who don't ship JL: casuals.

reply

Yeah, nothing like insulting everyone else over a ship. I wouldn't mind JL happening, but I almost don't only because that group of "fans" are so militant about it. That's the part I don't understand. It's fiction. It's a tv show. Many ships can sail on the sea of our imagination. Why denigrate other ships? Weird.

reply

Well, hurling insults and threats seems to be this faction of the show's fandom's speciality.

They can't say they weren't warned time and time again by almost everyone connected with the show that JL wasn't going to happen (not that most of them will ever admit that).

It is all so ridiculous and childish on their part to make this into some kind of traumatic event. So your fav TV show didn't end the way you would have liked it. Boohoo for you!

Move on and watch something else - and let the rest of us "casuals" enjoy the episode!

:-))

"You're going into the water... short-arse!"

I was feeling insulted at being called a "casual fan" just because I don't "ship" any of the Sherlock characters. Then I remembered that we are also known as nannies here on this board and just had to laugh.

They can call me whatever they want. It won't stop me from enjoying each episode of Sherlock as it is released, re-watching innumerable times, and theorizing over clues and subtext.
