Chung Chung-hoon is indeed The Current War cinematographer

I wrote a few weeks ago that I hoped he were and he is! Actually I think I saw him in one of the images this weekend but it was blurry so I wasn't sure.

Chung is also filming an upcoming Hollywood historical film, “The Current War,” which stars Benedict Cumberbatch. He has so far worked on five Hollywood movies.

He is great and experimental and with Gomez-Rejón also technically daring filmmaking they should give an original visual style to it so even if it's Weinstein and a period drama it shouldn't be at least in the visuals, cliched and boring.

I just read a tweet in Spanish commenting a negative review of Handmaiden. Apparently the review highlights the photography but the guy says he agreed that the movie is bad BUT Chung-hoon's protography is always horrible and saturated, too. LOL So he is very acclaimed but not everyone love his style!

I really like him and I'm just glad his style is different to the classic "prestige" photography of these kind of movies.

I (and a little ashamed to say it) hadn't ever heard of Chung Chung-hoon. But again, on just checking out his credentials, I have to agree that he does seen like a really exciting choice! There does seem to be a wealth of creative film talent in South Korea, generally, that I'm a little surprised hasn't been headhunted more by Hollywood.

But off topic, just because this has reminded me of the photo of BC with the renowned Chinese actor/director Jiang Wen (or is it Wen Jiang?) and his family, has anyone heard of anything that might cast more light on that since?

That's awesome!

I'm here staring at his credits, cursing the day I decided to change my IMDb settings so that they show the original title rather than the translated one...  I do recognize Thirst in there in addition to Oldboy and Stoker. I don't like Stoker as much as I have liked some other Park Chan-Wook movies, but I did think it was visually very beautiful. So talking of a cinematographer here, this makes me very excited!

Looking forward to The Current War. 

Never mind Oldboy,he has also worked on "I'm a cyborg but that's ok" and that is one masterpiece for the ages from Chan-wook Park as a director ☺️ so yes... Excellent news for BC to be working with such a crowd...
