Simply press "join" to get added to this closed group.

Please join soon, we can figure out which playing ground we'll stick to later on. MagdaFR proposed two others and you can check out the discussion about those on her two threads on the matter of new forums.

With Facebook you run the risk of unscheduled raids by the site, throwing out anyone who does not post under his/her real name. I know some people in a closed unlisted private top-secret group who got tossed and banned because they had dual accounts. Facebook is much more vigilant of sockpuppet accounts.

Sockpuppet accounts destroyed IMDB.

I've submitted a request to the closed FB group.

Maybe I'm naive, but I've always used my real name for everything and I've never had any problems.

I joined a closed Facebook group when I discovered and got hooked on Person of Interest, a cult TV series that recently ended. That group is packed with lovely people. The group has clearly posted strict rules for membership, they screen applicants, and they promptly kick out offenders. The key to success is having highly involved moderators and clear expectations.

reply

Yup, I've already "approved" you. :D.

I just sent a request for the FB group too. I've always used my real name on there as well as Twitter since I also self-publish my own novels, but my Twitter handle is the same as here so you'll be able to see which request is from me. I'm also part of a Tom Hiddleston group on FB and we've never had any problems on it either but they too have a lot of rules.

I sent a request, it's my real account and name though (Jennifer) if someone needs to approve me.

Arthur, put the kettle on and dig out those lemon hand wipes.

reply

Everyone's welcome. No need to disclose real names here. :)

I've sent a request too.

I already had a facebook account apparently, which the request automatically hooked into. I think it's the first time it's ever been used.

Hooray! We have 21 members so far. We haven't actually done anything yet except to introduce ourselves to each other. It's nice to have a number of people in the group who had been reading this board but not posting. I had a hunch they were out there, unseen and unheard.
