Any word about how the BO office was for DS in Japan?
:-))

I haven't seen anything yet....maybe after the weekend?
But I did see that Doctor Strange is really really close to breaking $660M worldwide at this point, without any Japanese box office figures added it. So BC is off to a really strong start with Marvel :)
Have a lovely day - John Finnemore
Funny that given its huge success Marvel don't seem to be doing anything about commissioning a sequel. Scott Derickson said in an interview today nobody's heard anything from Marvel about doing a second movie. Maybe Dr Strange will just be in ensemble movies.
shareWell I don't think it is that unusual that there is no news about a sequel. Really. It is too soon.
I certainly think that there is every intention to do DS2 as another standalone. The news will be coming - just have to be a bit patient.

Where did you see that and what did he say?
I just went to look to see if something was obvious, but although I found the likes of the interview below, I didn't see anything to say noones heard anything about a second movie.

I'm pretty sure DS2 is on the Marvel slate for about three years from now, but they won't announce anything specific until the date gets a bit closer. I'm sure they would like to have a better idea of where they will go with the story before they announce the writers and director.
shareThanks Sgev. Yes. That's the one. It would be very surprising if there weren't a sequel but I hope they don't wait too long.
shareI hope they wait for it, the longer the better.
Because I want Dr.Strange at that May timeslot preferably 2020. Really hate for it to be moved to another november. And in 2019 after Avengers IW finishes they'll most likely take off november 2019. They gave GOTG2 that timeslot this year since there's no Avengers film and 2018-2019 belongs to Infinity War P1&2. 2020 may won't be an Avengers film. Unlikely it'll be Captain Marvel or Black Panther as their films will release next year. Only ones remain are GOTG.
I hope they take their sweet time and make sure the sequel is even bigger and better. I mean Dr.Strange almost made as much as GOTG and that one released in the summer which is a much better release date than november. I think a may release date combined with a good sequel can do even better (maybe even reach 1B).
