I opened a google group.

I don't know how they work but it has many features. Maybe we can use it while there is no better alternative.

Name: Benedict Cumberbatch (Imdb)

We can attach files, pictures. We can quote. There are lots of filters. You can chose your name. We can make it public or not.

There is a limit of 250 characters though.

I put the settings to public so you can join if you want to.

It looks pretty good MagdaFR. The only thing I would be worried about is that, since I am on gmail it seems like if I join then any other members would be able to see (or access possibly) my email address and everything else. Perhaps I am reading this wrong. But if this true then I wouldn't really like that, I think.

I will read up more on this and get back to you.

I really don't know. Why don't you join and see if you can change your settings. You can leave the group if you don't like it.

What is "everything else"?

Other possibility: you open a new account just for this. I'm using one that is not the one I use for work and real life friends.

Hey! I joined the group. :) I didn't choose the same user name as I have here, cause I've already been using that account for YouTube. I'd prefer we kept it private for reasons roverpup mentioned (access to e-mail addresses and such.) I don't mind as such, many of you already know who I am from Facebook and all, but it would still maybe be nicer to keep it for the people from this board?

So, can I ask a question? Is it true that if I join the members will be able to access my emails on my gmail account? Like in see my other emails (other than the ones that I send to the group)? Or will they just have my email address and not be able to see my emails in my inbox?

Actually, I checked and the "private reply" thing I thought would send the other person an e-mail doesn't, it just posts a private message in the group. So I don't think even the e-mail address is "public." Definitely not your inbox, it's not like they have your password. I think you just see the other members' user name and avatar. :)

Your messages are private. We don't see them.

Ah well. Thanks for setting this up Magda, but I don't have a google account (and won't have one for reasons) so I won't be able to join. But if it works for others, great :)

So that was pretty easy. I got the gmail app for my iPad. Already seen messages from Magda and IS. Can't figure out how to make my photo happen, but we'll get there eventually.
