Yet another bomb?

He must get on his knees and thank the heavens for being a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as his non-Thor leading role output is one bomb after another. Red Dawn, Rush, Blackhat, In the Heart of the Sea, and now The Huntsman: Winter's War. Sooner or later, Hollywood is going to stop giving him chances and he'll become the next Josh Hartnett. And yet there are so many minority actors who will never be given even one chance to be in one of these kinds of movies.

With Ghostbusters looking to be yet another flop, his career is certainly in danger. Hollywood usually allows actors two or three bombs in a row, and then it's over. Though Hemsworth can't really be blamed for most of his flops: Red Dawn, In the Heart of the Sea and Blackhat were all terrible films - terrible films with talented filmmakers and cast, but terrible nonetheless.

It's a shame because Hemsworth
is a capable actor. Maybe the fact that he hasn't been the one two blame for these failures will save him.

It's rare these days that actors' name alone will pull people into theaters, alone.

This dude's career is Thor. That's all he is to the audience. When the super-hero craze winds down, his chances will be over.

Not only did Marvel put him on the map, they've subsequently been keeping him on the map. Imagine if he dropped out of his Marvel contract after The Avengers. His career would've gone the way of Sam Worthington. This guy is completely incapable of selling a movie that doesn't have the word "Thor" or "Avengers" in the title. He could very well be a nice guy. But that doesn't change the fact that he's box office poison.

reply

It's not him, it's the films.

Every single time? Come on.

Think about it: would Red Dawn, Blackhat, Winters War, and Heart of the Sea have done any better with a different actor? Red Dawn is a remake that had no business whatsoever being remade; no one could've saved Backhat it was dull as hell; Heart of the Sea is something that the general audience wouldn't be too interested in seeing, and opening a week before Star Wars was colossal mistake; Winters War is a prequel/sequel that no one was asking for anyway.

reply

Yeah, and vacation was not necessary for him to do either whole it was funny his part mostly, its not like that role made anyone see him as being a comedic actor . he just needs to take on better roles, and directors who are known for making good films.

Wow. Rush, a bomb? Really? I thought he was great in that movie. You must not have really paid attention to Rush if you're lumping it together with Blackhat. :/
