If you are unlucky enough to run into really shit cops that are on some power trip you still need to comply and take things to court later (yes, yes, courts aaaalways side with cops. No, they don't.).
If you resist arrest, even if unlawful at the time and worse, even run from the police, you just turned yourself into a felon. Again: Yes, it is that simple.

True, I've been pulled over by cops several times in my life and 8/10 of those times it was for made up bullshit but I complied even when I was in the right. The second you resist and/or run away whatever bullshit charge they might have got you on originally is definitely going to stick after that and plus they are adding several new charges. The media giving examples of people getting pay outs or killed are really mudding the waters.
