Chauvin got convicted of manslaughter, unintentional murder, and third degree murder (which says “ Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another”)
If Chauvin had intent, as you say, then they would have convicted him of 2nd degree intentional murder . The state acknowledges that the murder was an accident (ie not intentional)
I think you're stretching the definition of the word accident. Chauvin knowingly took actions that he knew could kill someone.
