Her Ukrainian accent

My friend just got me into the show Orphan Black and I do really love it, I think Tatiana is very talented. But being Ukrainian I have to say her Helena's accent is not as good. It doesn't sound as much Ukrainian to me. But she is still really fun to watch :)

That's really weird, being that she IS Ukranian.
I would suspect she grew up hearing that accent a lot.

Maybe it's the same as an American accent.
Accents from Texas are very different than accents from Brooklyn.

She has Ukrainian ancestry, but I'm not sure how many relatives she would have grown up with who spoke Ukrainian. I know she was around the German language a lot growing up, which is why she can speak quite fluently, but I have Ukrainian ancestry as well and I've never been around a single Ukrainian relative.

I've heard a few people say her Ukrainian accent isn't spot on. I can't really judge, as the only time I'm around the accent is when I'm around a few friends, and theirs are pretty mild. I do know that her English accents are not her greatest strength, but her acting is so phenomenal that I really don't care.

Well I was born and raised in Ukraine and lived in a few different parts. There are some small differences in language as some people speak more of a Russian or Polish influence than Ukrainian if depending on age and area. This effects the language sounds more then accent. But she doesn't sound Russian or Polish or Ukrainian. She does sound Eastern European but it's more like a vague thing, not a specific voice.

Well her 'English' accent sounds Australian half the time so I'm not surprised.
