Did anyone look into the rape case from 2003? it sounded legitimate

Back then the internet was not like it is now. The public did not really have access to police reports etc. and we relied on news media and tabloids to form an opinion. While there was some hype back then that he ''might'' be guilty when it was overturned the story was conveniently dashed.

Here are the facts:

* She had an injuries to her vaginal area. Tears and bleeding that matched the description of the attack.

* She mentioned being sodomized. She also had injuries and tearing in her anus that once again matched the description of the attack.

* His lawyers and ''people'' threatened her not to testify. She received multiple death threats from Kobe's ''people'' and was pushed into taking the financial bribe. She feared for her life.

* Kobe's team came up with the ''Schizophrenia story''. She had no psychiatric history of Schizophrenia.

The poor woman was raped and then threatened by his thugs afterwards. He paid her an alleged 2.5 million to avoid a civil suit. He was guilty as sin.

If he had been in prison where he belonged, he wouldn't have died in that plane crash. So maybe justice was served after all. Karma is a bitch.

If she wanted him in prison, maybe she should’ve testified at the criminal trial instead going after a pay day.

Settling a lawsuit is not an admission of guilt, and it’s pretty easy to see why would settle. He had just signed a 7 year 136 million dollar contract. 2.5 million is a pretty low price to end media circus that he has to deal with.

He valued money over his name and proving he was not a rapist? I don't buy it. Hero worship and money stopped this bum from going to prison where he belonged.

He was a married man in a hotel with a single woman he picked up. She was not a hooker or a slut, just an average girl from a middle class family. He paid her off. If he was innocent, go to trial.

No, his accuser refusing to testify kept him out of jail. The criminal charges were dropped.

His name was already tarnished by the accusation. He went to court, and they were unable to prove his guilt, yet there are still people like you that think he is a rapist. So I have to ask, what could he have done to prove his innocence?

Yes he cheated on his wife, and it’s immoral, but that doesn’t make him a rapist. The girl is kind of a slut though. She showed to her rape exam with semen and Punic hair from multiple men.

Again settling is not an admission of guilt. Going to trial in a civil court is just about money so paying a small fine to make it go way is in his best interest. People do this every day when they get a speeding ticket. They go court to fight it because they swear they weren’t speeding, and the court offers you a partial fine as a donation that will keep the ticket off your record. Most people accept this so they don’t have to coming back to court. It’s the same thing kobe did. Do you ever ask people why they don’t go to court and prove their innocence?

This issue has been played out in court a million times. Merely because she had casual sex with other men, this does not mean she wasn't raped. So you say she was a slut? He was cheating on his wife. There's dirt in both their backgrounds.

From going over the story, I believe the woman. The preponderance of evidence is on her side.

It's rather obvious she was paid off not to go to court. It's also a traumatic experience itself for a woman to get up in court and describe her rape.

There was a woman very close to me who was raped as a child. That trauma changed her from a vibrant little girl into a silent troubled wreck for years.

If he was innocent he would have proven it, not paid off the victim.

This is about self-entitled privilege of the rich and famous who think they're above the law and everybody else.

When you are having casual sex with multiple men it casts doubt on who did what. It doesn’t mean that she wasn’t raped, but it does mean even if she was, we don’t know for sure who did it. But kobe wealth makes him a prime target to go after. She even joked with police about how much money she was going to get.

I’m sure it’s traumatic to go in to court and describe your rape. But it this case, it was too traumatic for her to do to put away her alleged accuser, but not too traumatic to in civil case where you could potentially get millions from it? So she didn’t want justice to be served, just some money.

I’m sure we all know someone that was a victim, and it’s awful. But we have to be careful about going too far the other way, and trying to convict anyone that has an accusation. The accusation alone can ruin lives. Kobe because of his wealth and privilege paid a small price, and he was able to recover most people don’t have that luxury, but they shouldn’t have to deal with it anyway, when the claims weren’t substantiated in court.

Kobe didn’t have to go to court to prove his innocence. He was innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof is on the accuser, and it was she that refused to go court until there was money involved.

So it was never about get justice and putting the man who raped her away, she’s just a whore and a gold digger.

Sad, but in the US the rich and famous are functionally above the law. It seems that he did things to her that she did not consent to and which resulted in physical injury, but there was no trial as the case wasn't considered to be a 100% bulletproof slam dunk.... and no DA wants to lose a high profile case.

This is one of the ways the rich get away with crimes that would land the rest of us in jail for our adult lives, the outspend the DA and use their money and publicists to intimidate the justice system. Sometimes they have to fork out for a "dream team" of trial lawyers, other times the threat of the "dream team" is enough to keep the trial from happening at all.

I disagree. Vick really seems like a changed person. He never shys away from his past, or makes excuses for it, he owns and has done a lot to try and make amends, when he didn’t have it. He was still working with humane society until 2019 when people decided to cancel him again. I’m not sure it’s the best move to get a rich celebrity to stop doing charity work.

This was prime time and international news. Just because you were soiling your diapers back then doesn't mean there was no scrutiny.
