Verdict: Guilty

Maxwell has been convicted of five out of six federal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor.
The trafficking sentence, the most serious one the British socialite faced, carries a sentence of 40 years in prison.
Maxwell showed no emotion in court as the judge spoke. After the verdict was read, she poured herself a glass of water and took two sips.
Her siblings in the Manhattan courthouse - Kevin, Isabel, and Christine - also sat silently as they learned their sister's fate. She now faces around 65 years in jail for the trafficking and grooming charges.
The jury's verdict came after around 40 hours of deliberating, as well as a four-day Christmas break.
Maxwell, a longtime associate of convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been in jail since her arrest last July.

Clinton and Biden are next, they will be doing the perp walk soon.

reply

There are certain people who are untouchable, even if the truth is out there.

reply

no chance for Clinton , likely fake his death

reply

This is great news! But what about her cronies like Prince Andrew?

reply

I very much doubt any of the 'big names' thrown about - Trump, Clinton, Andrew Windsor, etc will ever face prosecution. I'm also wondering how many of the 'small fry' have done deals for the prosecution to get this far and are now immune.
This story will run for years - mostly for partisan reasons and newspaper sales - but I suspect no one else will end up in court. The only remaining interesting question is how long will she spend in jail? Less than ten years including time already spent would be my guess.

reply

I would not be surprised if she committed suicide before the sentencing... not that I think it will be suicide by her own hand, but rather murder dressed up as suicide so that she has no chance to say anything at the sentencing hearing.

reply

I think that may well be on the cards at some point. My guess,

1. Appeal

If that's unsuccessful,

2. Offer info on others (poss Prince Andrew) in return for reduced sentence

a) If 2's successful, 'assisted' suicide before she can say anything
b) If 2's UNsuccessful, either assisted or genuine suicide

reply

The appeal would happen after the sentence is determined, if she is going to speak to try and get a lesser sentence it would need to happen prior to the appeal. Besides the appeal must be based on some error in how the rules and law were applied.

Her lawyers would never want her to refrain from giving info until the appeal because at that point if the appeal is unsuccessful the sentence would have already been made and set in stone.

If she is going to try and get a lighter sentence she will need to sing very quickly... which means the odds of her being Clintoned is pretty fucking high right now. If she had been smart right after the verdict she would have started singing right then and there just to insure she didn't end up hanging herself like Epstein.

reply

Okay. Works different to the UK then.

reply

She is part of the establishment and has a big family who I'm assuming are wealthy and well connected. Epstein was a jumped up little parvenu who found himself without friends and funds.
I think she'll do some time then be released and disappear in to comfortable obscurity.

reply

Her family originally was part of the establishment but as soon as her daddy cross the line and trashed the family name they were effectively out of the establishment. Sure some people in the group would still accept the kids if they were already close, but they were no longer going to be treated the same. Funny thing about being in a group based on wealth and stature... your so called friends quickly turn on your family when you embezzle from your employees pension fund.

reply

I know she's guilty, but I still feel a bit sorry for her. I mean 65 years for getting a few 17 yearolds to have sex. In my country a guy was convicted for triple homicide and got only 30 years. Now, he's even allowed to exit the jail and move freely because of his good behaviour. American laws are tough.

reply

Maybe your country's laws aren't tough enough?

reply

Very low crime rates.

reply

Poverty is the biggest factor when it comes to crime rates, so I'm assuming you live in a very wealthy nation. But it usually comes down to three things: safer countries usually possess greater wealth, smaller/more isolated populations and strict firearms laws.

@OvertonPendulum

Ghislaine Maxwell did not get 65 years in the end !
