So many bad movies...
What’s going on with this guy? He was nailing it for so long.
shareHopefully, it's just a bad phase. It happens.

Fassbender's career slump is a combination of overexposure and bad personal habits: He drinks like a fish and it began showing in his face fairly early. Also, he only works in certain roles. You can't cast him as an everyman or as a standard romantic lead. He really only works as antiheroes and villains.share

he's always good tho
shareHe’s rumored to be in talks for the wild bunch remake! Let’s hope that happens!
shareWasn't he in that awful Prince of Persia movie and he played Harry Hole in the snow man yuck
shareI believe it was actually Assassin's Creed, not Prince of Persia.
sharePrince of Persia was Jake Gyllenhaal.
shareJust the fact that he took a role where he played someone named “Harry Hole” he deserves to be in a downward spiral career wise.
shareI don't think he has that many duds to be fair. His great work outweighs his bad stuff. I give a list of his bad films imo
Assassins Creed, The Counselor, The Snowman, Haywire, Angel, Jonah Hex, Blood Creek. Those films are his truly bad films.
Those Alien prequels are not bad cause of him, he's the best thing in them. X-Men franchise, again he's one of the best things in them and First Class was really his only showcase in the franchise. Centurion for me is a guilty pleasure.
Films i put in the middle would be Song to Song, Trespass Agaisnt Us, A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre, The Light Between Oceans, Eden Lake.
A actor who has Shame, Inglorious Bastard, Steve Jobs, 12 years a Slave, Hunger, Macbeth, Frank, X-Men Days of Future Pass, Slow West, Fish Tank on his C.V isn't doing badly.
I agree his recent run hasn't been great. He badly need a great role and film just to get him back on track.
He’s appeared in some very good ones, too. I think he’s doing fine - great actor, a few apparent missteps, most of which I have managed to avoid seeing.
shareThree years later and Fassbender is still churning out dogshit.
shareYour opinion. Not mine.
shareYou don't say...
shareI do. An actor does not churn out dogshit. The studio does. Actors only appear in subpar films (or films that some viewers consider dogshit).
Has Michael been in a stinker or two? Undoubtedly. But I have never blamed an actor for a film being bad, only if his performance was bad. And every film that I have seen him in, good or bad, his performance was usually one of the highlights of the film.
There isn't an actor in the last hundred years who has not been in a bad film. Even DeNiro and Pacino had their share of stinkers.
I agree but I'd still blame DeNiro for Bad Granpa. That's on him for accepting shitty roles.
shareI agree with you to a point. "Bad Grandpa" (which I have not seen, and do not intend to) may be a bad film, but the only thing I would blame DeNiro for is, like you said, accepting the role.
But, I believe, that there is a point in an actor's life where, depending how acclaimed he has become (and DeNiro is acclaimed), that an actor decides as he gets older, to not take really serious roles or physically demanding roles.
Liam Neeson is another actor, that I believe realized as he got older, that he wanted to just have fun when he makes a movie, hence he started making movies like the "Taken" series, "The Commuter", and other such films.
Those Taken movies are actually more physically demanding than dramas / comedies.
shareTrue, but I think that considering how Liam has proven how good an actor he is, he is doing these types of films because to him, I don't think he has to prove himself anymore, and they are fun to do and a pretty good paycheck.
Michael has proven himself to be a really good actor, also, but he is probably not at the point where he just does movies for fun ... yet.
Even though real actors do not perform to win awards, I think that the day Michael gets an Oscar, I think he may follow Liam's path.
He's only been in 1 movie in the last 3 years.
