The Last Legion

Has anyone seen it? I'd never heard of it until today. I don't understand how that's possible.....look at the cast! Did it even show in the U.S? Was there any promotion for it? Anyway, I've added it to my Netflix que and am looking forward to it.

I watched it last night. I went to The Last Legion message board here on IMDB and there were a lot of people who spoke badly about it, so I didn't know what to expect. I have to say that I really liked it! It's not trying to be a historically accurate epic drama. It's also nice to have something that isn't over-saturated in CGI special effects. I particularly enjoyed the performances of Thomas and Colin Firth.....I also realized that it's the third film that they've been in together. Anyway, I liked it. I thought there was a nice mixture of action adventure and comedy.

Yes it is important for viewers to realise this is fiction. But it's a good flick and Thomas Sangster is very good as the boy who could have been king. An aside: How many films have Colin Firth and Thomas Sangster done together?

reply

3. Love Actually, Nanny McPhee and The Last Legion!!!

I enjoyed it and he did a fine job. Don't go in expecting Citizen Kane like too many of the posters on the LL board and you will be fine. It is a movie after all. ;)

i had difficulties getting into Citizen Kane...I think Thomas Sangster did a pretty good job. The cinematography is the only bit that bothered me in the film and it was bearable

I think the people on the LL board who were looking for Citizen Kane cheated themselves (I think a lot of them watched a pirated version on line); I waited for the dvd and thought it was great fun. Reminded me of Robin of Sherwood, a wonderful British television series from the 1980's.

There was a trailer for it in front of Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. It had a limited theater run in the states.
