Leighton as Mary Jane in Spiderman 3?

I've been reading a lot of the coverage surrounding Comic Con this past week and I heard one rumor that I found incredibly interesting involving Leighton. Since Shailene Woodley has essentially been ousted from her role as Mary Jane Watson, a lot of people are speculating about who will replace her... since there eventually needs to be an MJ for Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man.

I read that a lot of people have been hearing that Leighton Meester will be one of the girls considered for the role.

What are your thoughts? As a GG fan and a Leighton fan, I am INCREDIBLY excited. I love the idea of bringing her back to NY to shoot another NY-centric project. This would really help sky-rocket her fame as well and give her the kind of name recognition she really should have.

I would love to see her as Mary Jane. I miss seeing pics of her around NYC and she'd look amazing as a redhead. Her being in a comic book franchise would also give her a lot more exposure. She's much closer in age to Andrew and Emma than Shailene is as well.

Not to mention MJ is a character she could totally pull off.

As much as I want that rumor to be true, I think we are a ways off from actually hearing who the new Mary Jane will be or even if Shailene is 100% out.

I think you mean Spiderman 2.

Nope. MJ's part is already confirmed to be cut from Spidey 2. That was what Shailene was supposedly doing... Leighton wouldn't appear until Amazing Spider-Man 3 if the rumors are true at all. But, even though it's still way early to be hearing about stuff like this, I'm really excited at the possibility.

I hope it's not Leighton, this new Spiderman Line sucks,I don't want her to be apart of something so badly made. If she joins a franchise it needs to be amazing A-Z. She deserves it as she is amazing.
