sharei actually a good article.
shareima guess it blames penalties & struggling offenses
sharethe extra game hasn't helped with the injury situation. younger inexperienced coaches and the running game is returning. plus all those big named quarterbacks who retired or are no longer effective are tough to replace.
shareThe league is too big for the talent that is out there via the American college draft. Getting rid of terrible owners and successful recruiting of coaches has allowed this to be exposed. Not perfect as I believe given the 32 team league we can see that there are not enough good coaches out there as well. It took decades of bad ownership decisions and replacement with committed new owners to see that the new owners were better at identifying coaches and that the supply is finite. The league should have stuck with 26 teams like it was up until the mid-1970's when it added Seattle and Tampa Bay. Don't really need 3 teams in Florida. Had Bud Adams better managed his team while in Houston he would not have needed to relocate the Oilers. Also, given the never ending entertainment options in LA and the fact the bar is set so high for success was it wise to have LA go back to 2 teams?
shareso many bad teams this year.
share1. Too many teams.
2. Season is too long: pre-season should be limited to 2 games, regular season to 16 games.
the extra game may not have been a good idea.
share18 week season but 14 game schedule like it was until the late 1970's. Each team gets a few byes per season. No byes the last four weeks of the season so no one team has an unfair advantage in terms of schedule relative to the playoffs.
