'All the Wrong Reasons' to premiere at Toronto Film Festival
After a four year absence, Kevin is finally returning to the Toronto International Film Festival! Fans will recall he had FIVE films at TIFF in two years. In 2007, he had the World Premieres of The Jane Austen Book Club, Normal, and The Stone Angel. Then, in 2008, he had The Narrows and Fifty Dead Men Walking at TIFF. I attended the premieres of four out of those five (and was able to talk with him after each one).
After that his films premiered at other festivals. I saw The Perfect Age of Rock 'n' Roll at the CMJ Film Festival in New York. His film Frozen had its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010 and Vampire at Sundance in 2011. I covered both of those as well.
There's been a drought since then as his last couple of films didn't play the festival circuit. Of course, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens around the world starting August 21.
So here's the good news...Kevin co-starred with Cory Monteith in his second to last film before he passed away. They were already good friends and got to be even closer on the film, so it's a bittersweet story. That film, All the Wrong Reasons, will have its World Premiere at Toronto next month. It will be his first festival premiere in over 2 1/2 years, since Vampire at Sundance 2011, and his first time at TIFF in five years.
I will be there -- this is my eighth TIFF -- and, hopefully, he'll be able to make it and we can reunite after a long time without seeing each other. The schedule of dates and times will be released in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to reporting back on how it goes!
