Jim Carrey

In 2004 when they were casting the movie version of Bewitched. Nicole Kidman was on board for the Elizabeth Montgomery role, and in a brilliant example of joint casting, redheaded Shirley MacLaine(well, bewigged by then) was cast as her mother Endora and Michael Caine as her father (whatever his name was) and...some of us remembered "MacLaine and Caine" (she got first billing) as a much younger couple in Gambit (1966.)

And then they went to ...Jim Carrey to play Darren(first version, no doubt.) I recall reading a Hollywood blurb about Carrey actually meeting Kidman for lunch.

But, alas, evidently Carrey said no and we ended up not only with Will Farrell in the role, but a rather wholesale wreckage of the innocence of the Bewitched series with a switch towards a "meta" version about TV actors...and the whole movie being thrown to Farrell and his pre-teen male fans.
