I MET MARA WILSON!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot believe that I met Mara Wilson. It happened Tuesday night in Toronto. How did this happen?! She is a huge icon for 90s kids!!! December 25th, 2016 will be the 20th anniversary of me being a fan of her. Matilda was the first movie of hers I had seen. I loved it right away and watched it often. It is one of my favourites! I arrived at the book store where she was doing her appearance early. There were a few other fans there before me, but they were milling about as nothing was set up for the event yet. I stayed near the area where the stage was going to be. As more people came, I decided to form a line to make things fair. There were more fans than there were seats, but since I was at the front of the line I got a seat. I was in the front row directly across from Mara! She walked on stage by herself, spoke to the audience for a minute and a half about her love of Toronto (I filmed this), then read an excerpt from her memoir. There was a moderator who joined Mara on stage and asked her questions for about 20 minutes. After that, fans asked her questions for about 20 minutes. Then she met fans and signed autographs. It took about an hour and a half for her to meet everybody. I was the first fan to meet her! WOW!!! I gave her a small gift which she was very happy tor receive. I asked her if she would sign my Matilda and A Simple Wish movie inserts and she did! She signed her book too, of course! I am so happy!!! While she was signing I told her that I couldn't believe I was meeting her and that Matilda is one of my favourite movies. I said "One of my favourite lines in the movie was said to you. It's 'You're a Wormwood, start acting like one!!!" She laughed at this! Then I told her I loved that she wrote about how the first time she saw snow fall was when she was in Toronto and that she went ice skating. I told her it touched my heart to read that. She said "Yeah! I had seen snow on the ground before, but the first time I saw snow falling was here!" Then we posed for a photo as best we could and I thanked her once more. How can one wish come true one day so many years later? How can that moment come to an end? How can I have such an extraordinary experience, then go back to living my normal life? To quote something Mara wrote in her book: "If you can affect someone when they're young, you are in their heart forever." ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
