I think this is something interesting to chat about.
I think I have to disagree. I think it's good for celebs, (actors, singers...) to have a Twitter, for example. I really like Hayley Williams, from Paramore, and she has a Twitter where she tells everything she's doing, and that got me to like her even more, because that makes her more approachable, and you see that that person, in fact, is a human being. And that'd happen to Paul as well, he's an actor, so it's obvious that he's someone different from the character he's playing, but some people don't have the gift of knowing where the line's drawn bewteen the character and the real life person, just read all that Twilight Robsten obsession, they don't see that Pattinson and Stewart are normal people, not Edward and Bella. So it can happen something similar to Paul (or Ian, or Nina, to say other actors in the series), some girls are starting to call him Stefan. The worst that can happen to an actor (apart of getting no roles) is getting trapped by the character he's playing, not by himself, but by certain fans of the tv series, or the media. You know, to get him stuck in Stefan's shoes, like he hasn't done anything else, which is not true, because he's kept there, under the radar, for so long. So I think it's good for those people to be reminded that he's a human being.
I think Paul is an amazing actor, so I'm pretty sure that even if he had Twitter and wrote about himself, we would all believe him as Stefan, because when you see Paul in the tv with the fangs and all that vampire stuff going on, or kissing Nina, or arguing with Ian, is not Paul you see, it's Stefan. I've got to know trivia about him, like that when he was 14 he bought this 5 feet teddy bear to a gf, that he has 3 sisters, that he doesn't believe in love at first sight, or that he is very close to his parents and grandfather, all through his interviews, he's told it himself, and it hasn't changed my view on Stefan or the way he acts when he's in a movie or tv series.
Anyway, it's his choice to have a Twitter, it's ok if he's out of it, but in case he'd ever get one, he would still have self-respect.
Just my opinion. Sorry for the rant.

Let’s just agree to disagree on this one, shall we?

Of course ^_^ Everyone is entitled to have an opinion. And I can clearly see too where you are coming from with that one, and I understand your point of view, it would be a shame if gossip cr*p would take over his acting career.
