I believe it was from "gypsy" and the singer is Ethel Merman

reply

Yes it is and the song is called "Rose's Turn." Buster listens to the Ethel Merman recording while cowering with his blanket in another episode. (Can't remember the context but it was hilarious).

So yeah, it's "Rose's Turn" but I thought it was actually Liza Minnelli (she does it on an album called "Liza's Back.") The clip is too short for me to be sure, but doesn't that seem like the kind of thing they would have done? Included a song by a singer who happens to play the next door neighbor? Like some of Ron Howard's bits ("NOBODY is making fun of Andy Griffith.")

Definitely Ethels brassy tones. I do love the gag with Liza when NEW YORK NEW YORK is playing, and she complains that everyone *always* thinks of Sinatra...

Buster also sings it when he discovers Lucilles "Juice box."
