Thoughts on Ana Ularu as Vayentha in Inferno...
**somewhat spoilery for those who haven't read the book or seen the movie**
I thought she was quite good in the role. There wasn't *that* much for the character, besides a lot of running and shooting, but I thought she made a memorable impression. Her look was quite striking (she wore that uniform well), and her fate played out pretty much as I imagined/visualised it when reading the book (though with some tweaking regarding what lead to her fall). The falling through the painting/ceiling itself was particularly memorable, and it was one of the images that stood out most to me when first viewing the trailer for the movie. After she'd landed, I thought they weren't really going to focus upon her body, but then a little later they did, and it was quite nasty.
These movies (and apparently the books they're based on) make a habit of having these 'assassin' type characters pursuing Langdon. Paul Bettany's Silas was the most visually striking of the lot, and still is probably the most memorable, but after what I thought was a rather forgettable one in the second movie, I found Ana Ularu's Vayentha to be a return of sorts to what made the first movie's 'assassin' character so great. Obviously the book went into more depth about her character, but I think Ana did a lot with what little she was given to work with onscreen (I just wish we'd gotten a little more insight to her character's thought process/what she was thinking, as the book delved into it more, but given the drastic changes the movie made to the book's ending, I guess we should be grateful we got as much stuff with her as we did). I'll be keeping an eye out for Ana in other projects, since she's now caught my attention.
