Sure some of those voters from cold miners town might genuinely care about that. But the rest is just using "jobs" as plausible deniability for people who just wanted to take the country back to the early 1900's.
It's a façade...i have said the EXACT same thing. I don’t believe Trump supporters actually care about these jobs. A lot the talks and concerns about jobs for the most part is a façade. The same façade that the tea party used over taxes. Half of them are just spiteful little people who who would rather just spit on the proverbial cake so no one else can have it. Good old-fashioned cutting off the nose to spite their own face. Because they’re worried about minorities getting too much more than what their white asses have. Hell it’s not even about “conservatism” or “libertarianism” anymore. It’s just veiled hatred, and racial paranoia at this point. Real conservatism died somewhere in the 60’s, and got replaced by neoconservatives, and eventually the alt-right. The vast majority of Trump supporters couldn’t care less about what Trump is actually doing as president. Trump supporters don’t care if he repeatedly flat out lies to them, raises their taxes, cuts their health insurance benefits, cuts funding to their schools and libraries, cuts food programs, dirties their air and water, allows poisoning of their food, uses the presidency to make billions of dollars for himself and his family, passes laws to allow his billionaire friends to take and suck even more money from middle and lower income families, destroys our environment or our entire planet. Trump supporters don’t care about any of these things.
Trump was elected and continues to be supported because of one thing; he dislikes the same people his supporters do and he isn’t afraid to say so. He elevates their anger, validates their fears, and bonds them together. He tapped into these fears and convinced white America that they’re now the minority, they’re under attack, they’re going to be made to change, and their personal freedoms are being threatened.
This shared dislike, and often hatred, isn’t limited to Muslims, Mexicans, refugees, forigners in general, but also includes fellow Americans. Blacks, any low-income person that isn’t white, the entire LGBT community, and, of course, Liberals/progressives and Democrats are all included to a varying degree. Basically anyone that looks or thinks differently from themselves.
You're damn right about everything you said, but you can't tell these trumpf lovers a damn thing. As long as he plays on their fears and prejudices, that's all they give a damn about,flat-out.
The relationship with trump and his supporters reminds me of the story of The Farmer & The Viper, except the farmers KNOW they're likely dooming themselves. As long as the viper hurt those "other people" they don't like.
Like someone said earlier it's not really conservatism. It's bigotry hidden behind faux conservatism. REAL conservatism died a long time ago in the 60's.
First of all we do care about jobs/economy and Trump has done a great job in repairing Obama's mess. Secondly "liberal tears" are important because they are actively trying to destroy the country for political reasons and they need to be put in their places.
