What will Trump do if he doesn't get the border wall? I know he's said he'll shut the government down. Is he going to hold on to that, basically holding the government hostage? Discuss

What will Trump do if he doesn't get the border wall?

The same thing he always does. He'll give up and try to spin it like he was successful in building part of the wall and how fantastic it is. With trump its never about right or wrong. Its about maintaining the illusion that he's winning.

He accepts defeat or as you say give up and blame it on congress. He did the same thing with healthcare. It's Congress' fault.

I thought it was funny how he said "Accept my bill or your stuck with obama care" like it was a threat or something. He also tends to bully and intimidate which doesn't work with congress or the public. He's our president not our CEO.

He doesn't seem to understand it takes time to put together a healthcare bill. I gotta give kudos to Sen. McCain for having the guts to vote the bill down.

McCains a turn coat. We might as well consider him an independent rather then a republican senator.

I think in this case he will shut down the government. The Republicans do that every few years and nothing bad ever comes of it. Keep in mind that when the government shuts down, all of the "important" agencies keep going, like Social Security, the military, Congress, the White House, Air-Traffic Controllers, the FBI, CIA, the Mint, and so on. Only the things that people actually like about the government get shut down, such as National Parks, the Museums, Science labs, NASA, and similar.

He will shut it down by not signing the spending bill. No one but the media will care very much until a few weeks pass and the shutdown starts to affect the average person. They can't visit the Washington Monument or Mount Rushmore and the TSA can't hire more agents to alleviate crowding at the airport and phones stop working because the satellites are falling from the sky. Then, they will call up their Congressmen and they will begin to oppose Trump openly. Trump will cave in, he will declare it to be a victory, and life will go on.
