It seems that Trump Jr and Kushner met with a Russian lawyer a year ago. Looks bad? Turns out the meeting was a "set up" by Fusion GPS!

The president’s legal team said Saturday they believe the entire meeting may have been part of a larger election-year opposition effort aimed at creating the appearance of improper connections between Trump family members and Russia that also included a now-discredited intelligence dossier produced by a former British intelligence agent named Christopher Steele who worked for a U.S. political firm known as Fusion GPS.

“We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” said Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. "

"These developments raise serious issues as to exactly who authorized and participated in any effort by Russian nationals to influence our election in any manner,” Corallo said.

We now know Fusion GPS is a smear machine hired by criminals. I hope the FBI is investigating them and will soon seize their computers and bank/phone records. Can't wait to find out what "liberal" scumbag paid them to smear Trump.

Halvorssen submitted statements to the Judiciary Committee for the record Wednesday in regards to his experience with Fusion GPS.

"In my particular case, it was whistleblowing against a group of criminal Venezuelans operating a company called Derwick Associates that sold twelve faulty electric plants in Venezuela," the activist continued. "They had no experience before, they had nothing to do with the sector and yet they got $3 billion worth of business in Venezuela of which they skimmed around $2 billion. And then they hired Fusion GPS to go after those of us who were opposing them and blowing the whistle on them."

"Imagine waking up one day and seeing a headline in a fringe website that says that I'm a neocon scam artist and then you read the actual article and it says that I -- there in some Facebook posts and Twitter posts that they put out -- it says falsely says that I sleep with children, it says that I'm a heroin addict, it says that I've been to rehab, it says that I'm an embezzler..."

William Browder, a U.S.-born investor who championed a U.S. sanctions law against Russia, testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday that Fusion GPS, the firm that created the Trump dossier, had also worked for Russia.
Browder said under oath that Fusion GPS was being paid indirectly by Russia to lobby against his efforts to pass the 2012 Magnitsky Act.

“What I’m saying with 100% certainty is that they were working to undermine the Magnitsky Act and the timing of that,” he said.

Fusion GPS is the same firm that produced a salacious and discredited dossier on Trump, which the FBI reportedly used to open an investigation on his campaign.

Browder said Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya had hired Fusion GPS through a lobbying firm to lobby against Browder and the Magnitsky Act, and that the firm called journalists to spread lies about him and his former lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, who had died under Russian custody.

Veselnitskaya would later request a meeting through a former client with Donald Trump Jr. in June 2016, to discuss the Magnitsky Act.
