I haven't seen Hellboy but everything else he's done is garbage from beginning to end, can't write a coherent storyline and is just a visual director and not goo at it either, so why is he so overrated that he even went on to be nominated for an academy award for what I found to be an average film at best?

shareHaha no McG is awful. Del toro is a hell of a lot better than I nearly every way.
shareMy problem with del Toro is that most of his films are made for children and are not catered toward adult sensibilities. I actually quite enjoy his films, they're like dark children's fairy tales. It would be interesting to see if he can transition into dark adult fantasy, a genre that is really needing invigoration at present.

He made one genuinely great film with "Pan's Labyrinth", a couple of enjoyable ones like the Hellboy films, and couple of duds like Pacific Rim.
