I'll never get over the fact, that the Hobbit-deal went down.

Anyone else think, that it would have been one of the coolest thing in movie-history, if he had gotten to do the Hobbit movies?

What annoys me, is that it nearly happened, we were so close.

Yes.

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

Yes. I think his vision would've been great.

I also wish he, Peter Jackson, and Terry Gilliam had gotten to direct one of the Harry Potter movies each.

Can't stop the signal.

I'm sure Terry Gilliam was offered HP and turned in down and rightly so.
People like Terry don't inherit movies the making them from the ground up, if he made Harry Potter a Gilliam film it wouldn't be anything like the books, if he didn't make it a Gilliam film he would not only be selling out but it'll be pointless to hire Gilliam and not have a Gilliam film.

Same goes for Jackson and Toro (I know he did Blade 2 but it was early in the career and needed to get a foot in the door some how.

I didn't want Toro to waste his talent on The Hobbit, he'd have to answer to Jackson it probably wouldn't have been any closer to the book and it probably wouldn't have been much different to what we ended up with.

Alfonso Cuaron was able to put his own touches on Prisoner of Azkabahn. I'm sure Gilliam and Del Toro would've done the same.

if he made Harry Potter a Gilliam film it wouldn't be anything like the books,

I would've liked to have seen that film.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

But Toro and Gilliam don't want to just touch a film, they want to make it theirs.

reply

Yes, I understand.

But that doesn't mean I can't wish to have see what they would've done with the movies if they'd been up for doing one.

The fantastic world of Harry Potter with its assortment of characters, locations, and creatures is just ripe for someone like Gilliam or Del Toro.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

Maybe but Gilliam doesn't agree, hence he turned it down.

reply

And to me that one was the best in the entire series.

Sorry Brother.
