'A Reliable Wife' - new project

She has been trying to get this adapted for a while, glad to see it finally coming along.

Sony looks to have found a trustworthy candidate to direct “A Reliable Wife” in Sam Taylor-Johnson, who’s in early talks to direct.

Based on the Robert Goolrick tome, the story is set in 1908 and follows a widower who places a newspaper ad for an ”honest, reliable wife” but ends up with devious, dishonest women instead. Semi Chellas and Andy Kevin Walker penned the script.

Michael De Luca and Jami Gertz will produce with Elizabeth Cantillon overseeing along with Hannah Minghella for the studio. Josh Bratman, who will oversee for De Luca, will exec produce.

Best known for helming “Nowhere Boy,” the WME-repped Taylor-Johnson has made her name over the years for a handful of shorts. “Wife” would mark her first major studio film.
