Disney is reacquired to release all the movies according to the deal so it's getting released, it's just an article on safe bets and they didn't mention all of fox's movies. And They can stop movies that are in development and production but anything else is safe. So i am still hopeful they markert this one well and considering when it's coming maybe possibly do well, and cause we honestly deserve to see it.
shareIt's had to imagine how a major studio with 3 films that have grossed over $1 billion worldwide, with Avengers: Endgame grossing nearly $2.8 billion, along with a fourth film, Toy Story 4, taking in $963 million at the box office worldwide, would be in financial trouble in the second quarter of 2019.
Of course, it should also be mentioned that the fourth installment of The Toy Story franchise was released near the end of the second quarter, while "The Lion King" was released in the third--so I highly doubt Disney will be anywhere near the red in Q3.
Although I will still err on the side of caution, I believe Mody is correct in that Disney will honor their contractual agreement with Fox, to release all the movies they agreed upon during the merger. So I would think this to be more about growing pains than about downsizing and thankfully Disney remains one to the top film production companies in the world.
Hmm, I'm thinking that since the movie has already been made and paid for, it's more than worth it to spend the advertising and release the film than losing the 80million production cost. That's a more simplistic way of looking at it I guess, but I think when you add to it the contractual agreements that Mody points out, I'm hopeful that the movie gets a release. I do want to see this movie and the role that Kristen has in this as I think it's a good one and a bit unique and different for her.
shareIf IFC was distributing Underwater, I would be very worried. But because Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, which will probably be the most profitable studio this year is the distributor, there should be no reason to sound alarm.
