shareAs far as best goes, John Bonham could be the guy imo. Dad always said Ginger Baker was the best. Said he saw Zeppelin once and they were terrible, and he liked Zeppelin.
Imo, the best ROCK drummer ever is a difficult question, but I’ll just say Bonzo. He just had a great rhythmic sense, this mix of swing and heaviness.
Now on the other hand, the GREATEST rock drummer could indeed be Ringo. What other drummer has been as famous as he was back in those days?
Or does “best” mean “greatest” as well?

I generally cite Bonham as the greatest rock drummer, but there are many others I would rank just as high, if not higher. A few of my favorites, often not mentioned in this conversation, would be Bill Ward (Black Sabbath), Nick Mason (Pink Floyd), & Danny Seraphine (Chicago).
Ringo is pretty good, but hardly the greatest. share

shareBonham was good but most drummers would agree that Buddy Rich is the best ever and it's not even close. Rich did things on drums that didn't even seem humanly possible. Watch some of the YouTube videos of him soloing. Its some crazy stuff....
Although, many thought BR was kind of an asshole, his talent was undeniable.
