John Wick is hopefully just the first of many directorial outings!
When I heard about this film being made, I was like "meh, just another lame actioner with Keanu", but then I heard Chad Stahelski was helming it, and I was genuinely intrigued! Being a longtime fan of Albert Pyun, I knew Stahelski played the "predator alien" in the "Nemesis"-sequels, and that he had done a lot of stunt-work before that.
However, I would've never imagined that "John Wick" could have been the cool, slick, "realistic" hitman-thriller it turned out to be! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire film from beginning to end, and all the small cameos from genre-favorites (Daniel Bernhardt, David Patrick Kelly, Dean Winters, Lance Reddick, Clarke Peters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Kevin Nash, etc) also put the icing on the cake for me! It is the perfect modern action film, and hopefully there will be a sequel out in a few years, or at least some other cool project from Mr. Stahelski! :)
No doubt Keanu Reeves' best movie since "The Matrix" (A Scanner Darkly was a close second). Hopefully they'll be collaborating again in the near future!
