He's too good for it. These movies are not going to be epic love stories - they are a below average writer's fanfic versions of Bella and Edward (not making fun of it - that is actually the history behind the books). The movie will get it's 15 minutes and then be a punchline forever after. It's no mystery why so many actors passed it up.

I think if they would have been more prompt picking actors they could have had some top choices. when the movie was first announced tons of big actors were jumping at it. its the producers and writers fault for trying to be coy, its failing. i loved the books but now i could care less about a movie

While I think he would be suited for the role, I hope he doesn't take it if offered. It seems like it would be a thankless role: damned by some readers if he doesn't fit their image of the character and damned by critics because, after all, this is derivative Twilight fan fiction drivel. No matter how good his performance or how suited for the part, it may damage his career.
